Since her spouse appeared to be preoccupied with other ladies, Lee preferred to boat around with her new boyfriend. However, as with most affairs, drama rapidly ensued. Before Lee, Onassis was having an affair with Maria Callas. She was an opera singer who was noted for her violent temper. When the news about Onassis and Lee emerged, it had everyone in Europe buzzing. His affair with Callas ended before his affair with Lee began, hence the period overlapped. Needless to say, Callas was upset about it.
