Before she could think too much, the door opened again and the same officer returned, this time accompanied by a colleague. The newcomer looked at her earnestly and introduced himself, “Hello, Melissa. I’m Agent Davis, I see you’ve already met my colleague, Agent Johnson. Now, I want you to tell us about that ring.”

Melissa froze as she heard those words. Of course, Officer Davis had no idea that his colleague had never properly introduced himself, but that was the least of it at the time.
